The Twins Alive Foundation, an umbrella organization for twins in Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State, is hosting its national convention with attendees from throughout Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.
Give Mary Slessor a Day is the theme of the convention that starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday, December 5, 2021 in Uyo.
According to a statement by Twin Idongesit Mbon Mkponnam, the Twins Alive convention this year will include a Twins carnival and the signing of a petition to the United Nations requesting that the second of December be designated as Mary Slessor Day in honor of her selfless sacrifice to humanity.
Other highlights of the event will be the Face of Mary Slessor competition to find the next Twin Ambassador in Nigeria, the Twin Heritage Tour to some of Mary Slessor’s historic sites, and a cultural display at night to remember the period in Nigeria’s history when Mary Slessor was a missionary there.

For the yearly occasion, there will also be a live essay competition, a memorial lecture for Mary Slessor, and free eye care services.
The statement stated that Mary Slessor-related projects have been consistently carried out by the Twins Alive Foundation over the years.
It asserts that this initiative has contributed to writing twins across Nigeria and Africa, has sustained Mary Slessor’s good humanitarian missions in Africa, and has helped write twins across Nigeria and Africa.
The statement extends an invitation to participants, including twins, their friends, and members of the general public.
