Top-rated hospitality outfit, Watbridge Hotels & Suites, Uyo has yet again added another plaque to its fast-growing award cabinet.
This time around, the honour came from none other than the Department of Educational Technology and Library Science, University of Uyo, Class of 2016, who have recognized the hotel as a ‘model in reading promotion in the country’.
At a lunchtime award ceremony held yesterday at Monty Suites, Uyo, the Library and Information Science graduates in their pre-award oration praised Watbridge Hotel’s ‘commitment to the promotion and propagation of readership in the society as excellently exemplified in them being the first among hospitality outfits in this part of the world to have a well-equipped guest library within its community and rank of services’.

They, in their message equally hailed the hotel for committing quality resources and facilities to support the activities of Uyo Book Club, another of their awardees, who have greatly influenced the new reading renaissance growing in the state adding that Watbridge has markedly elevated the status of hotel hospitality since coming on board barely three years ago.
Responding, the Head, General Services, Watbridge Hotels, Miss Elizabeth Ogor, who received the award on behalf of the outfit thanked the Department of Educational Technology and Library Science for the recognition done the hotel, saying Watbridge will continue to support reading and scholarship.
Watbridge Hotel’s Ngugi wa Thiong’o Guest Library has continued to receive rave reviews from users, visitors, and information professionals for its pioneering role in educational tourism and for its rich collection of resources.
