Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria has lamented the dearth of grassroots sports development and re-stated its readiness to revive sports in Akwa Ibom state through regular youth sports competitions.

This is one of the issues raised in a communiqué at the end of the meeting by the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of YSFON signed by the Chairman, Elder Uwem Ekoh and Secretary, Mr. Isonguyo Iniodu

While planning to install the first ever Akwa Ibom Pillar of Sports YSFON in the communiqué commended the state government for sponsoring the state-owned football teams in national competitions and other individuals who have sponsored teams in various competitions, pointing out that it has engaged the youths positively.

The communiqué called on the players and management of the state-owned football clubs to put in their best to achieve good results so as to justify government huge investment.

YSFON appealed to the sports-loving people of the state to give maximum support to all the teams to enable them succeed.

The organization called for nominations from sports stakeholders including members of the Football Association, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Coaches Association, Nigerian Referees Association, and All Stars Clubs among others for the prestigious position of “Akwa Ibom Pillar of Sports”, stressing that it is aimed at promoting grassroots sports development in the state.

YSFON hinted that all nominations should be forwarded on text messages to the following numbers 07038144199, 08036490566 on or before Wednesday, 27th January, 2021 for the Committee to do their final selection
