Governor Umo Eno has closed his defense in the petitions filed by Young Progressives Party, YPP, and its governorship candidate, Senator Bassey Albert, challenging his victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Uyo.
Governor Eno, who is the second defendant in the suit, called four witnesses from the University of Uyo to defend his certificates.

The witnesses are Mr. Linus Okoko, Director of Human Resources of the University, Mr. Imo Markson, Bursar, Theresa Inokon, Assistant Security Officer, University of Uyo, and Mr. Nse Okon Udo, Principal Security Officer.
They were led in evidence by the Counsel to Governor Umo Eno, Paul Usoro, that of INEC, Offiong Offiong, and counsel to INEC, Tayo Oyetibo, all Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
The counsel cross-examined the witnesses to the petitioners, Mr. Tunde Falola.
The three-man Tribunal headed by Justice Adekunle Adeleye has adjourned to Saturday, 15th August 2023 for the adoption of final written addresses, before judgment.
