Lutheran High School Obot Idim Gets Two Hostels Courtesy UTHISCO Alumni Global USA

Lutheran High School Alumni Association, USA has handed over two 144-bed space Male hostel building blocks renovated, built, furnished with modern facilities and donated by the organization to the Lutheran High School, Obot Idim  Management Board in a move aimed at resolving the accommodation challenges facing the students of the institution.

The two hostels’ bed space, the second and third facility to be donated by the association, was officially handed over to the School Management on Sunday 10th September, 2023 at the School Compound.

At the event, conducting the visitors around the facility, the Secretary, Lutheran High School Alumni Association- USA, Elder Bassey Okon said the organization under the leadership of Madame Esther Ekong in the USA mandated him and other members of the organization to come over to Nigeria and represent the LUTHISCO Global  Alumni organization in handing over the two building facility to the School Management.

The Organization Secretary recalled that the LUTHISCO Alumni-USA first commissioned a fully furnished and equipped Lizzy Hall female hostel on 26 February 2021 in the school compound which gave room for the demand of the same for males

Elder Bassey Okon described the two male hostel buildings as Old Colony in honor of Rev. Martin Luther and Rev. Henry Nau. New Colony in Honor of Rev. John L. Konz and Rev. J. U. Ekong in memorization of their contribution to the institution and emphasized that the association would continue to do its best to tackle the challenge posed by the shortage of accommodation and infrastructural decay in the institution.

“The buildings which were renovated, built, and finished with state-of-the-art facilities were in despair, The Global Alumni-USA felt the need to give back to the institution that catapulted us to attend greater height in academic attainment.

“Our objective is to give back to Lutheran Schools, our next stage will be to look at the institution’s curriculum and impact on the Students in the area of Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, STEM”.

Receiving the hostel facility on behalf of the Archbishop and his Vice, The Principal of the Institution, Mr. Owoidoho Sunday in his address, appreciated the association for conceiving the project and for working tirelessly to ensure its completion in record time.

He also called for more such projects and collaboration from individuals and organisations to reduce the population of students to meet the infrastructural needs of the school.

The Principal also used the opportunity to appreciate the organization on the scholarship award to students of the Institution.

Other members of the organization who spoke at the event were Mpkisong Eyobong Usanga, and the Adviser to the International President, Mr. Mike Effiok-Abasi among others.
