Life is all about impact. But not all lives are qualified to be described as impactful.

Obonganwan Lovina Umoh Effah, the Eka Mbong in Akwa Ibom, and so far,the only Female Chairman, Association of Local Government OfNigeri, ALGON Chairman in Akwa Ibom State belongs to a class of persons that deserve to be celebrated. After all, who would not celebrate an impactful personality at sixty.

Born on February 12, 1961 into the royal family of Late Jackson Akpan Esin Ikperikpe Umo ekong Iwat of Afaha Obio EnwangItak, in Ikono Local Government Area, the young Lovina, imbibed moral discipline, and act of kindness from infancy.

She attended Primary School, Afaha Obio Enwang Itak, Dikko Secondary Commercial School, Edem Idim Ibakasi, Ini LGA, and the University of Uyo, where she studied History and International Studies.

The young lovina, radiating captivating beauty, She got married to a business mogul and revered man of God, late Evangelist Okon Udo Umoh Effah of Ikot Idaha, also in Ikono Local Government Area.

Determined to offer quality service to humanity, Obonganwan Lovina Effah ventured into politics with the determination to make a difference, even at the very time politics was a daring adventure for women.

Through her doggedness and determination, she became a trailblazer for most women in politics within and outside Ikono Local Government Area.

As a woman with sincerity of purpose, unwavering support and loyalty, she became the first PDP Chapter Woman Leader in Ikono, and also the first Senatorial District Woman Leader in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. She was a major influence in the formation of Women in Politics, in Ikono – a platform she used effectively to galvanized women’s involvement in politics.

Obonganwan Lovina Effahhad the rare privilege of serving her people as the first, and only two-term Transition Committee Chairman of Ikono Local Government Area between 2007 and 2011.

That singular opportunity made it possible for her to become the first and only Female Chairman, Association of Local Governments in Nigeria, ALGON ,in Akwa Ibom State.

According to records, the versatile woman leader was also the first female Campaign Coordinator and Chapter Coordinator of Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance, ACA in Ikono.

Outside the shores of Ikono, she has served as a Board Member, State Technical Schools Board, Member, Akwa Ibom Roads and other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency, AKROIMA, and presently, Member of Governing Council, Akwa Ibom State College of Science and Technology, Nung Ukim Ikono.

Obonganwan Effah has remained an activist, a strong believer in the philosophy of realism, hard work, respect for constituted authorities, service to mankind and women equality as well as education for all.

As a staunch member of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star by birth, Obonganwan Effah has been a Chorister, served God diligently until her ordinations into higher realm of services as Deaconess, Senior Christ Servant, Blessed Mother, Christ Ambassador and currently, State Mother, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star in Akwa Ibom

In all her stations of service, both to God and humanity, Obonganwan Effah had distinguished herself creditably and demonstrated an extraordinary level of integrity, dedication, humility, passion, and the fear God.

It is interesting to note that reports from people of goodwill across borders declare unequivocally that the sterling virtues of diligence, hard work, forthrightness, and compassion, with the spirit of excellence had so far paved the way for Obongawan in her life voyage.

Clothed with deep compassion for women, men, youths and elders, the consummate character has left no one in doubt about her commitment to impacting lives and changing the ugly narratives in the society at every given time.

Her many achievements as a two term Transition Chairman of Ikono Local Government council speak volume and remain indelible.

Mummy, you are indeed a blessing and a unique gift to the family and humanity. You have impacted lives, turned boys to men and girls to women, given hope and succor to the women, and strengthened even the elderlies.

At 60, you have become a pathfinder, a role model and a mother who has successfully made every one of us proud.
