The people of Nung Ikono Ufok village Uruan Local Government Area, stakeholders, family heads and youth leaders have condemned the sexual molestation and killing of Miss Iniubong Umoren by an indigene of the village, Uduak Frank Akpan
They said, the barbaric and gruesome murder of Miss Iniubong Umoren, who was lured on the pretext of offering her a job is unacceptable, calling for effective handling of the matter by the police.
The Nung Ikono Ufok people never denied that the said Uduak Frank Akpan is not one of them but said he has never lived there, having spent a greater part of his life outside Akwa Ibom State
They said that Uduak Frank Akpan only came back to the State about three years ago when his father was retired from service and that they do not know much about him nor the activities he has been into.
Having said that they are law abiding citizens whose peaceful disposition can be attested to and that they have never been involved in any form of heinous crime, the Nung Ikono Ufok village said rape is not their stock in trade as erroneously insinuated in some quarters, and that trading in body parts is alien to their culture and tradition.
A statement by Chief Joseph Attah Essien Village Head, Chief Effiong Willie Deputy Village Head, Mr. Paul Okon Secretary, Stakeholders Forum and Mr. Mark Bassey Inyang Youth Leader on behalf of Nung Ikono Ufok community direct youths in the community to be alert. vigilant and report all suspicious actions of individuals or groups, whether indigenes or visitors to the village head for possible investigation.
The Chairman of Uruan Local Government Area, Mr Iniobong Ekpenyong, being the chief security officer of the area, the people said he was only performing his statutory responsibilities which resulted in the arrest of the culprit
While sympathizing with the family of the deceased, her village, Oruk Anam Local Government, and the State for the loss of Miss Iniubong Umoren, they prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
They thanked the law enforcement agents for the job they have done so far, and that they are willing and ready to assist them in the course of their investigation, with a view to unravelling the mystery behind the case.
