Governor Emmanuel Commends Efforts Of American Government To Rid Nigeria Of Malaria

Akwa Ibom state government has lauded the American government for supporting the movement to rid Nigeria as part of Africa of malaria by the year 2030.

The state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel gave the commendation when he played host to an American-sponsored organization, the management sciences for health, led by its president, Dr. Marian Wentworth.

Mr. Emmanuel who was represented by the deputy governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo noted that America’s commitment to eradicating malaria in the country would further strengthen the more than 3 decades relationship between the two nations.

Describing malaria as a scourge that has led to the death of many in the continent, he said his administration was committed to ensuring that its citizens enjoy good health.

The governor commented on the president of management sciences for health, Dr. Marian Wentworth, and her team for being committed to the course for the eradication of malaria and thanked her for the choice of the state as a flagship for the project.

The president of the organization, Dr. Marian Wentworth said they were on a mission to Africa using Akwa Ibom as the flagship explaining that the organization is targeted at eradicating malaria by 2030.

She said zero malaria by 2030 can only b achieved by working towards it and seeking for partnership with the state government.
