Former Legislators in Akwa Ibom elect now have new Executive to pilot its affairs, with Obong Saturday Akpan who represented Ukanafun State Constituency between 2003 and 2007 as the Congress Leader.
This was the outcome of the 2021 Elections of the body, which held at Watbridge Hotel, Uyo.
Other elected officers are Mr Uwem Ekanem- Deputy leader, Mr. Archibong Inyang-Uyo Senatorial District leader, Mr. IniIkot-Eket Senatorial District leader, Obong Usenobong Akpabio- secretary,and Mr. Asuquo Odiong as exchequer.
Others include, Mr. Kennedy Ekong- Attorney, Mrs. Sarah Esitikot- Director of Finance, Chief Inyang Eno- Assistant Director and Mr. Ernest Ukpong- Assistant director of protocol.
In his acceptance speech, Obong Saturday Akpan thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and his executive and listed the achievements of his first term to include,fulfillment of the basic aim of the Congress as enshrined in its Constitution, as well as respect, recognition and relevance of former State legislators in the scheme of things.
He thanked the State Governor, MrUdom Emmanuel for his kind gesture to the Congress and pledged its support to the Completion Agenda.
ObongAkpanalso appreciated the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Mr. Aniekan Bassey and members of the 7th Assembly for their cooperation and solidarity with Congress as well as the former Speaker and member representing Etinan/NsitIbom /NsitUbium Federal Constituency, Mr Onofiok Luke.
Present at the event were the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Designate, Elder Aniekan Akpan, Mr. Okpolopum Etteh, Chief Uno Eim Uno and Obong Ekong Sampson
