The state’s local government council will be monitored for the next six months by the Transition Implementation Committee for the Local Governments, which was appointed by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
In a ceremony held last week, the Governor, who was represented by the deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, announced 14 of the 16 TIC members who will be in charge of the local council. The governor’s appointments to the TIC, according to Mr. Isiaka Mogaji, a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, were invalid and against the law.
He claims that, in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the subject, the TIC appointment is blatantly unconstitutional.
Regarding the TIC’s illegality, the Federal Government is not being sincere.

However, the fact that the governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, followed the path of illegality shows that he is anxious and afraid of holding local government council elections.
If the current administration of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq does not like the faces of the members of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, the governor cannot impose their appointments because the case is still pending in court.
He claims that the governor has not taken the lessons from the previous administration into account, which is the cause of the state’s current instability. People who should be making decisions for him are not present.
The appointment, according to Ayamola Muhammed, a former lawmaker and legislative assistant, violated section 7(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, according to a popular weekly radio anchor program. “Many Supreme Court rulings have been made regarding TIC. The most recent is that of the governor of Ekiti, who was challenged before the Supreme Court but was unsuccessful. He appointed them in spite of protests about it being unlawful. It is unfortunate that we are at a standstill in Kwara State where we are.
A group known as The Kwara Emerging Leaders has, in the meantime, denounced the governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for forming a Transition Implementation Committee to oversee the state’s local councils.
Seun Awogbenle, the group’s convener, claims that the governor’s appointment of the TIC is a flagrant abuse of his or her executive authority and a disregard for a matter that the Supreme Court has long since resolved.
