Governor Udom Emmanuel has called on female youths in the state to embrace entrepreneurship and be self-reliant rather than wait for white-collar jobs.
The Governor made the call when he graced the 5th Anniversary Graduation and Empowerment of students of Female Youths Academy, in Uyo.
Governor Udom Emmanuel who lauded the initiator of female youths Association known as purple girls for investing in the development of the girl-child, and for training over 200 of them in different skills acquisition programmes. advised youths not to indulge in activities that will ruin their future.
The state Chief Executive represented by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet said his administration prioritizes skills acquisition evidenced in continuous training of youths, urging individuals and groups to key into Lady Edna’s gesture in developing young people in Akwa Ibom.
In their messages of goodwill, the commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon, Mrs Fumi Idongesit Nkanga and Senator Bassey Albert, Mr. Ufuot Ebong thanked Lady Edna Daniels for singlehandedly training hundreds of youths in different fields and prayed God to bless her.
The initiator of Female Youths Association Purple gives Lady Edna Daniels said her passion to train young ladies to be self-reliant was driven by the Governor DAKKADA philosophy which advises people to live up to their responsibilities as ab idle minds is always the devils dwelling place.
Lady Daniels said aside the training which this batch accommodated over 200 women in videography, photography, makeup artiste, gele tying, hair dressing, fashion designing and ICT, female youths existence assist young women to make money of their own and contribute to their families.
The event featured an exhortation by pastor Uwem Offiong of the Eagles Assembly, Ballard competition, March pass while the president of female girls association and beneficiaries spoke on the graduation.
Prayers were offered for the group the state and nation while a new Board the “Purple Brass was inaugurated”.
The over 200 beneficiaries of the scheme underwent training for 1 year, 6months and 3months depending on their skills.
