Pastor Umo Eno, the PDP governorship candidate for Akwa Ibom state in 2023, has assured of his ability to transform the state and sustain and expand Governor Emmanuel’s industrialization stride.

Pastor Eno stated this during a meeting with the leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, that he will pay more attention to the state’s agricultural and tourism sectors and use them to develop the state, create jobs for the teeming youths, and ensure food sufficiency for all.

He stated that if Governor Udom Emmanuel is reelected in 2023, Ibom Air, which he founded, will be used to drive tourism in the state.

According to Pastor Eno, Akwa Ibom State is endowed with natural resources that have yet to be explored, but he assures that his government will pay greater attention to the state’s God-given resources in order to develop it.

While restating his campaign theme of “further peace and prosperity in Akwa Ibom State,” Pastor Umo Eno assured that he will complete all ongoing projects that Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration may not complete.

Pastor Eno, who stated that he understands Governor Udom Emmanuel’s intentions and interest in industrializing and establishing peace in the state, promised to sustain his lofty programs and announced the establishment of a development journalism award in the union to promote socio-economic and human capital development in the state.

The Director-General of Umo Eno Campaign Team, Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN, introduced the PDP Governorship hopeful to NUJ members, saying he brought the aspirant to the union to help market his lofty ideas, vision, and mission to Akwa Ibom people and also project his pedigree.

The National Chairman of the Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), in his goodwill, said the visit was in recognition of the critical role NUJ plays in project Akwa Ibom as a critical stakeholder.

He described Pastor Umo Eno’s selection as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s preferred candidate to succeed him in 2023 as a “dream come true.”

According to the former PDP National Legal Adviser, MPM is in the process of preparing a successor capable of perpetuating and maintaining the state’s current peace.

Also speaking, Senator Effiong Bob, the political leader of Nsit Ubium LGA, said he can vouch for Pastor Umo Eno’s integrity, credibility, capacity, and pedigree to govern Akwa Ibom and deliver dividends of democracy to the people, and urged all his media supporters to transfer their support to Pastor Umo Eno, assuring them that their interests would be protected.

Former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, and member representing Abak Federal Constituency, Elder Aniekan Umanah, on their part, stated that power comes from God and that he decides who leads his people at any given time, emphasizing that God is interested in the affairs of men.

In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Felicia Bassey, reiterated the state legislature’s resolve to support Pastor Umo Eno’s bid to become the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Furthermore, Dr. Glory Edet, Dean of the College of Commissioners and Commissioner for Agriculture, reaffirmed the College’s earlier decision to endorse Pastor Umo Eno, stating that the aspirant is their own and thus they cannot afford not to support him to succeed.

Responding, Mr. Amos Etuk, State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa  Ibom State Council, promised to collaborate with the aspirant to develop the state.
