The torrential rainstorm that hit Kankara Local Government Area in Katsina State on Saturday claimed the lives of two women and reportedly demolished over 30 homes.

One of the women perished when the walls of her building collapsed and fell on her, according to Abdulkarim Sani, an information officer at the council area.

He stated that the deceased had been buried according to Islamic customs.
Sani further mentioned that the downpour that lashed Nasarawa and Matsiga at separate times between Saturday and Sunday wreaked havoc on the settlements.
SEMA (State Emergency Management Agency) has yet to publish a statement or reply to questions about the incident.
