In line with PDP tradition and as an indication of respect for party hierarchy, the Umo Eno Campaign Organization officially consulted the State Working Committee, party bigwigs, and stalwarts as well as presented Pastor Umo Eno, who is a frontline aspirant in the 2023 gubernatorial elections.
The Umo Eno Campaign train led by the Director-General, Amb. Assam Asam, SAN, and in the company of high-profile members of the Peoples Democratic Party was received at the party secretariat by the Chairman, Hon. Aniekan Akpan, his Exco members, and past Chairmen of the party.
Uncovering the credible aspirant brought before the party heavyweights, Amb. Assam hinted to the party leaders that the Umo Eno Campaign train was at the party office to formally present the preferred choice of the party leader in the state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and to seek the endorsement and support of the party.
He said, ”I am leading them here to inform you, Mr. Chairman and the entire executive of the party in the State that 2023 is drawing near and that we will need to have somebody in the State House to succeed and continue with what Deacon Udom Emmanuel has been doing for this state. We believe that the PDP needs a strong candidate, a candidate with integrity, a fair-minded person, a person who has been in business and would understand the language that Deacon Emmanuel will leave in the handing over note. A person who has no baggage and will be understood by all of us.
“If all of us, the entire structure of the Maintain Peace Movement and State Party can come before you to say, this is who we want; Mr. Chairman when the children of Israel said this is the king they wanted, God gave it to them. Chairman we have come here to tell you and the executive of the party that we want your endorsement for our candidate. He has good character, he is a good family man, an active businessman, a credible person, and a man of God. So, I’m presenting him today to seek the support and endorsement of the party.” He added.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the MPM, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem noted that to have the caliber of dignitaries in the campaign train signified a representation of the critical sector of Akwa Ibom State beginning from the House of Assembly to the local government, ALCON, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, State Executive Committee, the youths etc.
Enoidem hinted that the MPM structure has aligned with Pastor Umo Eno because he has proven himself not to only be a good product but a flawless, humble, and baggage-free product that will help the PDP win the election come 2023.
The MPM Boss while insisting that the ultimate goal of every political party in the world is to win election said, “since God unveiled him about nine days ago, we have listened to all criticism on the pages of newspaper and online space, we have not seen a fundamental fraud that has been attributed to this man. He Is baggage-free and we are confident that Akwa Ibom people who have enjoyed peace under the reign of Governor Udom Emmanuel will want to buy our product because he is a very humble man that has the fear of God.
In their separate messages, Sen. Effiong Bob and Rt. Hon. Ekpeyong Bassey who spoke on behalf of members of the House of Assembly stressed that Pastor Umo Eno will remain the choice of the party because, in his capacity, he has added value to the state through job creation and will do more when he mounts the saddle of leadership in the state.
Speaking on behalf of Commissioners, Dean College of Commissioners, Dr. Glory Edet noted that the entire commissioners in the state have queued behind Governor Emmanuel’s choice for the hilltop mansion job in 2023 and have pledged their undiluted support to the realization of his emergence as governor come 2023.
On his part, Rt. Hon. Orman Esin, the Commissioner for Tourism disclosed that the name Pastor Umo Eno is not strange to Akwa Ibom people because of the strides he has recorded. He maintained that the people of Oro nation are excited over governor Udom’s choice of Umo Eno because they are confident of a government that will bring tangible development to Oro nation.
Also Speaking on behalf of the Local Government Chairmen, Hon. Iniobong Robson said that since power comes from God, the entire chairmen of the 31 LGAs in the State have galvanized their support to the Umo Eno project and joined faith with the governor to mobilize delegates and constituents to ensure he emerges victorious at the party primaries.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Dr. Ekaette Okon noted that the women structure from the local government level to the MPM have fully aligned with the Umo Eno’s project and will do their bid to preach and commit others to the realization of the project.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom on Youth Matters, Mr. Aniefiok Iwaudofia while speaking on behalf of the Youth disclosed that the paradigm and mental shift created by Governor Udom Emmanuel among the youths through the dakkada philosophy have prepared them holistically and bred the spirit of confidence which the Umo Eno administration in 2023 will consolidate on.

Iwaudofia said the youths have noted with an open mind how Pastor Umo Eno came from the street as a youth and created jobs in his capacity, adding that with him at the hilltop mansion, the future that awaits Akwa Ibom youth from 2023 shines brightly.
Presenting himself officially and offering insight into his blueprint for the state when he becomes the governor, Pastor Umo Eno said, “since it has pleased His Excellency to unveil me, my vision and mission will be to advance peace and prosperity in Akwa Ibom. We shall build on the legacy that the governor has put in place. He has opened up the business space in Akwa Ibom State and made the state the second-highest foreign direct investment. He has done so well and we believe that there is a need to advance on the legacy that he has built.
“I came to Akwa Ibom in 1995. I relocated from a lucrative job where I have everything to myself because I believe in the Akwa Ibom Story. So in the dark days of the military regime when people were going to Abuja and other places. I had the opportunity of going to those places but I came to Akwa Ibom and started a small business as at then called the Royalty hotels. We have grown now to become a conglomerate.
“My wage bill for one month is over a 25million Naira and there is no month I have not paid that money. I have employed over 500 Akwa Ibom youths and they are growing daily. We have done this without government funds. I have not looked for elections in the past. I know how to create jobs. I know how to put our youths back to work. I know how to ensure that our teeming youths who are unemployed today have jobs by the grace of God.”
Continuing, Pastor Eno disclosed that part of his blueprint for the development of the state is to leverage the expansion of tourism frontiers, increase the revenue generated by Ibom Air, agricultural revolution, push for the utilization of the shoreline lying waste in Ibeno beach, create a feasible fish farm factory in Oron where seafood products can be commercialized.
“There is a need to develop the rural areas and build small dispensary in the village so that if any of our grandmothers who is sick and cannot get to any of our General hospitals at night, the rural development dispensary is available. There is a need to build be roads and market and open up the state as the governor has done.”
