Akwa Ibom State named in N5Billion Health Care, Social Development Grant

Akwa Ibom State has been nominated for Five Billion Naira Health Care and Social Development Grant under the Abdul Samad Rabiu, ASR initiative of BUA Group.

The nomination was confirmed when Governor Udom Emmanuel received a letter  from the Executive Director of BUA Group, Alhaji Kabiru Rabiu at government house, Uyo, yesterday.

The governor, on receiving the nomination letter, thanked the Chairman ASR-Africa, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu for including Akwa Ibom in the African Fund for Social Development and Renewal, an initiative that championed issues of charity and giving back to humanity.

Governor Emmanuel said the grant would go a long way in supporting state Government’s investments in health care delivery, especially in secondary health care as well as assist the state in the bid to develop tertiary health care system in the state.

He recalled the support given the state by BUA Group  through the donation of Ambulances and face masks when Covid-19 hit nations of the world including Akwa Ibom, saying the state was appreciative and looked forward to partnering BUA Group in more ways.

Leader of the delegation and Executive Director of BUA Group, Kabiru Rabiu said ASR – Africa was an initiative with endowment fund of 100 billion naira spread across Africa and designed to assist in the development of education, social and health sectors.

He commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for maintaining a business friendly environment with time tested Infrastructure, saying that the grant will compliment state government’s investments in the health sector.
