The result or certificate of the National Examination Council (NECO) can be used to gain admission into institutions abroad. However, this is not always the case because some institutions do not accept it yet
One of the most important things you have to decide when you apply to study abroad is which university or college and the type of program you will take. There are many factors that go into your decision and some people choose a university based on the reputation of either their degree program or location.
I personally do not recommend this because there are many universities around the country that offer quality education with competitive pricing.
The kind of school you choose should be based on what area of study interests you, your personal strengths and weaknesses, your desire for a big salary upon graduation, and so on.
However, this isn’t always the case because some instances don’t accept it yet. For example, if you want to use your NECO result to study at schools like Stanfоrd, Yale, Harvard, etc., it will probably be impossible for us.
The reason is that those institutions are the best international schools. As a result, they will most likely not accept a certain national or local exam. Most schools would prefer to accept the WAEC because it is the most officially recognized examination body in Africa today.
This is the main reason why a WAEC result is relevant for every Nigerian student. It is also useful outside Nigeria. On the other hand, NECO results are more useful in Nigeria. How useful is Neco for studying abroad
The National Examinations Council (NECO) is a national certification body that administers the GCE and SSCE examinations for undergraduate students only in Nigeria.
