Akwa Ibom State Government is seeking deeper collaborations with religious and non-governmental organizations in the bid to stem the tide of cultism and other anti social vices among adolescents, especially in secondary schools
Governor Emmanuel called for the partnership when he recieved a delegation of clergymen from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 14, who were on a courtesy visit to him at Government House, Uyo.
He decried the spate of moral decadence among youths, noting that most crime related activities in the society were perpetrated by youths traceable to one cult group or another, and wondered how such vice came to ravage secondary schools.
The governor referred to a recent sad occurrence where a student in Senior Secondary, SS3 stabbed another SS2 student with knife, both belonging to rival cult groups in a secondary school.
Governor Emmanuel shared the opinion that with partnership from churches through God’s word, sound morals and values, the trend of cult activities in secondary schools could be reduced.
