Reputation of Nigeria, unemployment rate give People’s Democratic Party Governors sleepless nights

Must read

The governors of the People Democratic Party have trouble sleeping because of Nigeria’s reputation as the world’s capital of poverty, a nation with the highest unemployment rate, and an unstable environment.

The PDP Governors, of which Governor Udom Emmanuel was a part, left a meeting in Makurdi, Benue State, on Friday with a statement that called for a review of the situation by the ruling national party. They appeared concerned about what they term a “heightened state of worsening economic condition.”.

The statement also denounced Nigeria’s alarming trajectory and its allegedly questionable reputation.

The governors concurred that the national insecurity has fueled ethnic and tribal tensions, reinforcing their belief that the country urgently needs to devolve power and undergo a restructuring because Nigeria cannot afford another civil war.

The PDP governors demanded that a new revenue allocation formula that provides more funding to local governments and states be sent to the National Assembly for approval. They also demanded that the NNPC be run more transparently and responsibly.
