To effectively utilize the additional N30 billion funding provided by the federal government to tackle hunger in Akwa Ibom State, the government needs to implement strategic measures and targeted interventions.
Some ways in which the funds can be maximized for the benefit of the people include the allocation of a significant portion of the funds towards initiating and enhancing food security programs such as agricultural subsidies, support for farmers, and promotion of sustainable farming practices.
The government must improve and invest in agricultural infrastructure such as irrigation systems, rural roads, storage facilities, and market access to increase productivity and reduce post-harvest losses and also Provide financial support, training, and access to modern farming techniques for smallholder farmers to boost agricultural productivity and income generation.
Utilize FG’s N30b to Fight Hunger
To add value to agricultural products there must be investment in food processing industries, create employment opportunities, and ensure food availability throughout the year.
Another way to spend the N30b is to implement nutrition education programs and provide access to healthcare services to address malnutrition and enhance the overall health and well-being of the population.
A robust monitoring and evaluation system must be established to track the implementation of projects, measure the impact of interventions, and ensure accountability and transparency in fund utilization.

Pastor Umo Eno must foster partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and development partners, to leverage resources and expertise for a comprehensive response to hunger and food insecurity.
The diversion of the N30b into jamborees, birthday celebrations, reception for godfathers and the fathers of ”faith”, sharing to churches and political godfathers should be avoided.
It is not enough just buying farm inputs for distribution because the targeted farmers will not get it. Father more, buying farm input will mean enriching some top government officials
However, one thing is not clear if the said fund is a grant or loan.
How be it, adopting a multi-faceted approach that combines agricultural development, infrastructure investment, nutrition education, and effective governance, the Akwa Ibom State government can make significant strides in reducing hunger and improving the livelihoods of its citizens with the allocated N30 billion.
