Adele Laurie Blue Adkins thanked fans for “returning” to her on the opening night of her late-night Las Vegas residency.
The singer congratulated fans who had waited almost a year for her postponed performance.
She received a standing ovation when she took the stage at Caesars Palace on Friday, describing the show as “just perfect.”
The scenery on the Colosseum stage “looked exactly like I imagined”.
In an emotional speech, the 34-year-old singer opened the show by telling fans to give them a standing ovation as she said she “may be a little shaky at times”. Some in the audience had waited 11 months to see the artist after the five-month series of shows, which should have started in January, was postponed with a day’s notice due to a Covid outbreak among the production staff and delays in the completion of the set.
The singer announced the postponement on Instagram, telling fans in a tearful message that the show was “not ready”.
During Friday’s concert, she said, “My nerves are out of control,” joking that it’s been a huge week for her with Sunday’s Walking Dead finale.
Her first song of the night was her 2015 No. 1 single “Hello”, which earned her another standing ovation.
“Easy On Me”, “Set Fire To The Rain”, and “Someone Like You” also made the setlist. John Katsilometes, a Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist who attended the show, praised the singer’s performance, calling it “quite a special night”.

He said ‘She crushed it. It’s been a really special night for Adele and everyone in the room tonight.
“There was a lot of nervousness and fear in that room tonight, especially from Adele when she came out – and she did it.
“She was impressive and gave a warm and well-rounded performance. I don’t think he could have asked for more than what he delivered tonight.”
Fans Ryan Fuller, 38, of San Francisco said the show was “beautiful” and “worth the wait.”
‘Weekend with Adele’ will run until March.
She joins a string of artists accepting the coveted residency, including Elton John, Cher, and The Beach Boys.
But once the residency is over, the singer said she will take a break from performing to study English literature at university.
